Marseille soap, white vinegar, baking soda. Cold or warm water, never hot.

ice cream stains
Ice cream stains are very stubborn because they contain sugars, fats, and often milk proteins. But instead of hunting for the usual detergents, which often don't work, try first with some natural solutions based on Marseille soap, white vinegar, and sodium carbonateWith two basic rules that apply to all recipes: the water must be cold or lukewarm, never hot; the solution must act for about 10-15 minutes (this time is longer with baking soda).

Marseille soap

Marseille soap works well because it dissolves and emulsifies the fatty part of the ice cream and helps the water remove the rest of the residue from the fabric fibers.

Ingredients
  • 500 ml of warm water
  • 1 tablespoon of flakes Marseille soap pure (or about 1 teaspoon of liquid Marseille soap)

Preparation

  1. Dissolve the soap in the water, mixing well.
  2. Let it cool if the water is too hot.

Method

  1. Remove any remaining ice cream first.
  2. Rinse the stain with cold water.
  3. Apply the solution with a clean sponge or cloth.
  4. Dab gently without rubbing vigorously.
  5. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Rinse with cold water.
  7. Wash the garment as normal.
Marseille soap is particularly effective for ice cream stains as it is rich in natural surfactants, which emulsify fats, help detach dirt from fabric fibres, and eliminate sugary residues.

White vinegar

White vinegar, like Marseille soap, is particularly effective on ice cream stains. And the best way to use it is very simple.

White vinegar works well with ice cream stains thanks to its moderate acidity, which helps dissolve and remove sugary residue left by ice cream on the fabric.

Sodium bicarbonate

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda
  • About 1 tablespoon of cold water (add it little by little)

  2. If it's too runny, add more baking soda; if it's too dry, add a few drops of water.

How to apply it

  2. Rinse the area with cold water.
  3. Spread a thin layer of paste on the stain.

  6. Rinse with cold water.
  7. Wash the garment as normal.
If the ice cream stains involve cream or chocolate, the advice is to combine baking soda with white vinegar.
