Il Don't Waste Award It is the brainchild of Antonio Galdo which, around the diptych Non sprecare, over the years has built an editorial platform with a mix of paper and web, of the Internet and real contacts between people. First the book-manifesto Don't Waste (Einaudi editions), then the website Non sprecare.it with an entire section dedicated to the Award, created in partnership with Luiss University.
The Award is a vehicle for sharing and disseminating experiences, stories, projects, and individuals who represent concrete examples of truly sustainable economic and social development. Sustainability is enshrined in the 17-point UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The idea is to engage the entire community in developing ideas and projects that can trigger a process of participatory change and more informed and responsible citizenship practices. This includes economic initiatives inspired by the circular economy and best practices within associations, institutions, and public administration.
Who can participate
The Award is open to anyone who has developed an original and useful project, idea, or initiative addressing sustainability and waste prevention in social, economic, and environmental contexts.
Therefore, natural and/or legal persons who fall into the following categories, which will be the same ones in the competition, can submit their projects:
- Character*
- Companies
- the Institutions
- Associations
- Schools and universities
- Young people (under 35) and startups
* The character will be identified directly by the members of the Jury
How to participate
To participate, simply send an email to [email protected] attaching:
- Project presentation
- Photographic images relating to the project (jpg format) – if available, videos can also be sent (possibly included directly in the ppt)
The main objectives that must form the basis of the project to be nominated for the Non-Waste Award:
- Response to real needs
- Innovativeness
- Feasibility
- Scalability
- Impact – both in terms of beneficiaries reached and in terms of depth of change
- Relevance of the topic/interest for the community of reference.
Clarity in the presentation of the project will also be taken into consideration.
The proposals, including those indicated by the community on the Nonsprecare.it Facebook page, must be received by the deadline of October 30, 2025.
The most significant nominations will be presented to the readers of the site www.nonsprecare.it in the section dedicated to the Award.
Award ceremony
The winner of each section will receive a package of products from the Vini Fantini group. The award will be presented during the grand final ceremony hosted in Rome by Luiss Guido Carli University, a leading force in promoting sustainable activities and culture. The 2025 Non sprecare Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 27, starting at 9:00 a.m. in the Aula Magna of Luiss University at Viale Pola 12, Rome. The ceremony can be followed online via Luiss Social TV.
Jury
The jury selecting the nominations is composed of Antonella Barina, journalist and writer for the daily newspaper La Repubblica; Ilaria Bertini, director of the Energy Efficiency Unit Department – ENEA; Carlo Calfapietra, director of the Ecosystem Research Institute – CNR; Antonio Galdo, director of the website Non sprecare and president of the jury; Federica Gasbarro, communicator, activist, and expert in sustainability and energy management; Mihaela Gavrila, professor of Industrial Analysis at La Sapienza University of Rome; Jacopo Giliberto, editor of E-Gazzette; Enrico Giovannini, full professor of Economic Statistics at Tor Vergata University of Rome; Christian Iaione, director of LabGov – Laboratory for the Governance of Common Goods; Sebastiano Maffettone, director of the Ethos Observatory at Luiss Business School; His Eminence Cardinal Vincenzo Paglia, spiritual advisor to the Community of Sant'Egidio; Elisabetta Soglio, editor of the Buone Notizie supplement – Corriere della Sera, and Francesco Spinelli, coordinator of Legambiente's Business Partnerships Office.
