Vittoria Dezzani was born in Asti and has always had a great passion for literature. After graduating in Modern Literature , with a thesis on Elena Ferrante's My Brilliant Friend , she attended the Holden School in Turin, where she trained in creative writing (2019–2021).
She then worked for about seven years at Caffetteria Mazzetti , the bar run by her sister Valeria and brother-in-law Riccardo Bosia, in the center of Asti. It was there that she learned a skill that would later prove invaluable: being among people, listening to them, getting to know them, and creating a place to return to.
At the same time, she cultivated a narrative streak. She shared snippets of everyday life on her Instagram profile "La ragazza del bar accanto ," observing the world from the bar counter. In 2022, she decided to take the leap: quit that job and turn her passion for literature into her own business.
On November 13, 2022, he inaugurated the Piccola Libreria Indipendente , in a courtyard at Corso Vittorio Alfieri 241 , in the historic center of Asti. He didn't simply want to create a bookshop: the idea was to build a sort of literary home , a cozy place where books and people could meet.
The choice of books is a very personal one: she said she initially chose titles she loved and that had accompanied her through different stages of life, precisely so she could recommend them to customers with full knowledge of the facts.
And there's a detail that, in my opinion, captures her philosophy well: when asked if it was courageous to open an independent bookstore during a difficult time for bookstores, she didn't call herself courageous, but lucky . Lucky, she said, to have a place where she could combine her passions and experience a "slow time."
Her idea didn't stop at selling books. The Piccola Libreria became a venue for presentations, reading groups, conversations, and writing workshops . And in June 2026, Vittoria Dezzani, now 34, was hired by AstiTeatro 48 to curate a creative writing workshop linked to the project La casa in collina , dedicated to Cesare Pavese.
