Machines for recycling, and avoiding waste, plastic at home. The open-source project is called Precious Plastic, and was designed by Dutch designer Dave Hakkens: a series of machines which can be built using the do-it-yourself method, with relatively inexpensive and manual materials. These machines allow you to:
- to grind plastic (shredder)
- extrude it in filaments or pellets
- shape it by molding or compressing into new objects (plates, vases, creative shapes)
The shredder cuts plastic items into small fragments, ready to be transformed into new items by other machines. The cost is €1.100.
The Shredder Pro shreds plastic waste into smaller flakes, ready for recycling: this machine costs around 2.000 euros.
