Spinach is one of the most wasted vegetables in our homes, and this is for specific reasons: they deteriorate quickly, they seem very numerous when raw, then once cooked they become few, they rot quickly due to the effect of water and humidity, often it is not clear what use to make of them.
To avoid this frequent waste, just do one very simple thing: freeze them immediately, as soon as you are sure you won't consume them within the next 2-3 days.

The most effective method is also the fastest:
  • Wash the spinach well under running water to remove soil and impurities.
  • Blanch them in boiling salted water for 1 2-minute (just enough time to let them wilt).
  • Cool them immediately in cold water or with ice to stop the cooking.
  • Drain them and squeeze them well (very important, otherwise they make ice).
  • Divide them into portions  (in nests, balls or bags).
  • Freeze them  in freezer bags or airtight containers.
In the freezer, spinach can last up to 8-10 months and there is no need to defrost it before using it: just throw it away. directly in the pan or potThey are perfect for savory pies, fillings, sauces, soups.
