Peace is needed. Those who dream of peace, and those who seek it, have another magical place to visit, where we work for dialogue and brotherhood among all faiths and against any outbreak of war.
The Global House of Friendship and Hope is a new international center for interfaith dialogue founded in Assisi and inaugurated in August 2026, promoted by the Elijah Interfaith Institute and Rabbi Alon Goshen-Gottsein.
In practice, it is not simply a museum or a church: it aims to be a meeting place for people of different religions and spiritual traditions , with three main objectives:
- dialogue between faiths and mutual knowledge;
- prayer and meditation shared;
- promotion of peace, friendship and reconciliation between peoples and religions.
Currently, an immersive multimedia experience has been set up at Piazza Garibaldi 8, Santa Maria degli Angeli , near the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli. It includes, among other things:
- il Garden of the Saints, dedicated to silence, meditation and the teachings of different religious traditions;
- audiovisual installations on the history of interreligious dialogue;
- “An Instrument of Your Peace”, an immersive installation by Massimiliano Siccardi that combines images, music, hymns, and prayers from different religions.
The project is strongly linked to the tradition of Assisi as a place of dialogue and peace between religions : from the famous meeting in 1219 between Saint Francis and the Sultan al-Malik al-Kamil to the World Day of Prayer for Peace convened by John Paul II in Assisi in 1986, from which the so-called “Spirit of Assisi” was born.
Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, says: "Dialogue between believers of different religions is essential for building peace and opening up space for negotiation between countries in conflict. This applies not only to the Middle East, but to many other conflicts, where new horizons must be opened and religious faith must be freed from the instrumental use of a reason to find enemies to destroy."
