Free hospitals for dogs and cats in Rome

It's the first in Italy. It costs €3,5 million, but so far only €150 has been allocated.

FREE HOSPITAL FOR DOGS AND CATS

They are very common abroad. In Italy they are non-existent, and for to care for an animal all that remains is to pay the bill from veterinarian. With the risk of wasting money if we end up in the hands of an incompetent professional. Not to mention the animals "hospitalized" in public facilities, such as kennels, where places are always insufficient and assistance is very poor. For these reasons the news of the birth of the first hospital (partially) free for dogs and cats in Italy, in Rome, should be welcomed with great favor. Let's hope there are no unpleasant surprises along the way.

FREE HOSPITAL FOR DOGS AND CATS

The free hospital for dogs and cats, promoted by the Lazio regional administration, will occupy the space, completely expanded and renovated, of the current kennel public of the Muratella, on Magliana StreetThe project is costly: it's estimated to cost €3,5 million, and so far only the first €150 has been allocated. This is worrying: the risk is that it will end up like so many public works in Italy. The construction site opens, the tape is cut, announcements are made, and then it's closed again due to lack of funding, progressing in fits and starts. Meanwhile, the timeframe drags on and on, and costs skyrocket.

FREE VETERINARY ASSISTANCE

Free assistance for dogs and cats in the Roman hospital is guaranteed to all families with an ISEE income of less than 15 thousand euros. The same benefit applies to non-profit organizations that carry out activities in favor of animals, for example those abandoned, for blind citizens who need a service dog, for rescue centers. Everyone else will be able to benefit from reduced prices for dog and cat care. This too is a promise: we hope it will be kept.
