Climate Pledge Arena, the world's greenest sports facility

A completely green sports facility, dedicated to basketball and hockey, where every system that requires electricity (from heating to dehumidification) has been converted to run exclusively on renewable energy, 90 percent solar, thanks to the use of 1.300 panels.

We're in Seattle, North America, home to the Seattle Kraken (hockey) and Seattle Storm (basketball), in a facility called Climate Pledge Arena , which seats 18 fans. But the green aspect of the American stadium isn't limited to energy efficiency. Ice isn't wasted when the sport changes, between basketball and hockey: the arena is designed to allow for quick transitions between one configuration and another.

Additionally, Climate Pledge Arena collects rainwater from the roof and stores it in a 15.000-gallon (about 57.000 liter) cistern, which it uses for maintenance and ice resurfacing. Approximately 12.500 plants and trees have been installed in the arena, and one of the indoor green walls covers approximately 1.700 square feet. 

The Climate Pledge Arena was the first arena in the world to achieve Zero Carbon certification from the International Living Future Institute, which also takes into account the embodied carbon of the construction.
