ROAD THAT CHARGES ELECTRIC CARS
It sounds like a child's game. But it's actually one of the most interesting innovations in private mobility combined with electric cars: a road in Sweden where, while driving, drivers automatically recharge their electric cars . Speaking of kids, the technology used is very similar to that of " slot cars ," the model racetracks of the 1970s, where cars raced along an electrified track.

The project, conceived and developed by Gunnar Asplund , a Swedish architect, has so far been inaugurated, only a two-kilometer stretch , heavily used by trucks because it connects Arlanda, Stockholm's airport, to a logistics hub, giving it the name eRoadArlanda . However, within a few years, a 1.365-kilometer stretch connecting Stockholm, Malmö, and Gothenburg should be electrified.
STREET ELECTRIC CAR CHARGING
How much does the road that charges electric cars cost ? Quite a lot, considering estimates are around €1 million per kilometer—still less than the cost of installing an urban tram line. And in any case, the benefits in terms of reduced emissions and the fight against smog must be factored into the costs.

In this regard, Hans Säll , CEO of the eRoadArlanda consortium , said: «Electrifying the 20.000 kilometers of motorways alone would ensure the circulation of electric vehicles throughout the country, since the distance between one motorway and another is never more than 45 kilometers and electric cars can already travel this distance without needing to be recharged».
On the eRoadArlanda, the stretch is currently used only for charging Swedish Post trucks , which have been converted to electric propulsion. This is still only an experimental route, but the goal is to expand this project throughout the Scandinavian country and Europe.
