Tap Shops: Where to Find Them in Every Region

The most numerous are found in Lombardy, Piedmont, and Veneto. There are two advantages: they eliminate packaging and reduce prices.

Packaging-free shops in Italy 4

Our grandmothers know this well: in their day, people would go downstairs and buy pasta, rice, and flour by weight from their local grocery store. This way, they always bought everything in the right quantities and didn't throw anything away. This " no waste " trend is becoming increasingly popular. From Milan to Catania, in fact, the number of shops and supermarkets offering "on tap" and "no packaging" products is growing (with an average annual turnover, according to a survey by the consulting firm Eunomia, of over €150) where customers bring reusable containers from home to store their purchased products. Franchise chains or small stores offer primarily locally sourced foods: from grains to pasta, from oil to wine, and even other types of products from local producers. A very virtuous cycle that spreads the "zero waste" philosophy and the increasingly pressing need to reduce waste, especially plastic waste, which ends up in our seas and in fish stomachs, thus entering our food chain with all the risks that entails. This new way of shopping offers several advantages, including reducing packaging and , consequently, waste, purchasing the right amount of food, thus avoiding potential waste and saving on grocery costs. A conscious and environmentally friendly purchasing system, therefore. Let's see which stores offer on-tap purchases and where they are located throughout Italy:
