How to get free photovoltaic

The income limits established by national law. But there are also local grants and assistance. What remains of the 110 percent super bonus for photovoltaic systems?

How to get free scaled photovoltaic

Photovoltaic systems can be installed free of charge for low-income families. Applications can be submitted if the ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) does not exceed €15.000, which increases to €30.000 if the family has at least four dependent children. Systems are intended for self-consumption and must have a power output between 2 and 6 kWp and, in any case, not exceed the nominal power draw at the connection point. Excess energy must be sold to the GSE (Energy Services Provider), which in this case will not pay any compensation for the sale: this support is aimed exclusively at reducing energy costs for low-income families who lack the means to access photovoltaic technology. Those who receive the subsidy do not have to pay anything, and the company installing the system will process the application.

The systems must be installed on the roofs and surfaces of residential properties owned or usufruct by the applicants, or on appurtenances of such properties. The residential units must be connected to utilities for which, at the time of submitting the application for the incentives, an active electricity supply contract is in the name of one of the members of the household. Therefore, the property owners must submit the application to the GSE together with the chosen company, which will install the system at its own expense. The GSE will provide a fixed contribution of €2.000 plus a variable portion of €1.500 per kW for each kW of installed power.

Only companies registered in the GSE register may be contacted. These companies must comply with mandatory training and refresher courses for the installation and maintenance of renewable energy systems. Furthermore, they must commit to maintaining and monitoring the system's performance for ten years and provide comprehensive insurance coverage for the installation. The list of companies meeting these requirements can be found on the GSE website's Map of Contractors.

In addition to these national provisions, there are also grants and incentives for photovoltaic systems provided by local, municipal, and regional governments. It is advisable to check with your municipality to determine whether you can access these subsidies to install a photovoltaic system for home use free of charge.

Finally, there are two other ways to install a photovoltaic system for free. Some companies offer contracts that provide the photovoltaic system without requiring direct and immediate payment. In exchange, you pay a monthly fee or a percentage of your energy bills for the energy saved. These contracts are also called "Power Purchase Agreements" (PPAs) and can be advantageous if you don't have an initial budget available for the system purchase. From the old 110% superbonus, a 36% tax deduction remains for energy efficiency improvements, which also include photovoltaic systems (increased to 50% for primary residences), with a maximum limit of €96 for each housing unit.
