Fashion brands that still exploit animals

There are seven: from Antonio Marras to Fendi. Those who have instead chosen the fur-free path, without fur derived from animals.

Made in Italy, in the luxury segment, remains a hallmark of the apparel industry. It's highly regarded in foreign markets, where the creativity of Italian designers is recognized and paid for at very high prices. But our designers, and others, continue to indulge in some highly unsustainable vices. For example, purchasing garments and processing them in areas of the world where there are no regulations or protections for workers. Or the use of animal fur in their lines. According to a sample survey by LAV, among the brands participating in Milan's fashion shows, seven continue to produce animal fur. Specifically, these are:

  • FENDI
  • Philipp Plein
  • Antonio Marras
  • Calcaterra
  • The Attico,
  • Francesca Liberatore
  • Husky

The following fashion brands have instead joined the choice to produce fur-free, that is, without using fur from animals such as stoats, minks, rabbits, squirrels, and sables:

  • Ralph Lauren
  • Tommy Hilfinger
  • Coach
  • Chanel
  • Comme des Garçons
  • Vivienne Westwood
  • Hugo Boss
  • Michael Kors and Jimmy Choo
  • Burberry
  • Balenciaga
  • Alexander McQueen.
