Solidarity tailoring: in Foggia, recycled clothing is being created to serve the poor.

Two workshops are open, one in a parish and one at the Caritas headquarters. A network of volunteers is working to recover and repurpose clothing that would otherwise be destined for the garbage.

SOLIDARITY TAILORS IN FOGGIA –

The solidarity machine has taken an important step forward Foggia, where two have been opened Solidarity tailors that make tailor-made clothes for the poorest, recycling and recovering clothes or donated items. A dress To be tailored. A pair of trousers that are too large, brought back to the right size. A jacket with some mending in the pockets. A coat that needs shortening. Everything for the poor, homeless immigrants and less well-off families.

SOLIDARITY TAILORS TO HELP THE POOR AND HOMELESS –

A group of people work in the tailoring shops volunteers, men and women, charged with overseeing the collection of clothing and its subsequent arrangement: all under the direction of the Diocesan Caritas of Foggia and the Banca della Campania, which provided the initial funding for the project. The two tailoring workshops were set up on the premises of the Caritas and in the parish of Santa Maria del Grano, in Borgo Mezzanone, a few kilometers from Foggia and not far from the Reception Center for Asylum Seekers and Political Refugees. A lovely Christmas present, a nice experience, and also an excellent model that could soon be imitated in other cities in the South.
