Pillows in the bedroom are certainly a good way to increase the space, while also ensuring a tidy feel. The key is the arrangement of the pillows (if they're well-arranged, the bed's surface appears more uniform and less cluttered), their color, and, above all, a fundamental rule: don't overdo it with them; a few well-defined pillows will do.

  • If your bedroom has a double bed, place two large pillows against the headboard , followed by two smaller ones in front. Avoid overloading the bed.

  • A few pillows, well-spaced: four pillows are often sufficient; leave a good portion of the bedspread visible.

  • Light and similar colors—white, beige, taupe, or shades that match the walls—make the room appear larger. Dark colors, or even overly patterned pillows, weigh down the bedroom and make it feel smaller.

  • Symmetrical arrangement: create a clean, tidy line, especially if the room is small.

  • If you want even more visual space: use only two large pillows and add a central decorative pillow. This is probably the "lightest" solution.

  • Avoid very high piles: too many pillows stacked on top of each other make the bed appear bulkier and, consequently, the room appear smaller.

If you have a low headboard or no headboard at all, place the pillows vertically against the wall, rather than flattening them completely: the bed will appear narrower and tidier.
