A special collector, who we can however include in the category of people who, indirectly, contribute to reducing waste. In these cases, some sachets of sugar, which continually, and not completely exhausted, end up in the garbage.

And instead Fabio Pozzolo, 31, a graphic designer from Pordenone, has been collecting sugar packets since he was little. He has collected over 3 of them, which can be viewed on his profile. [email protected]and some are truly particularly curious, such as a small envelope used for propaganda during an election campaign.

Sugar packet collecting, also known as glycophilia, is a hobby that has its roots in the early twentieth century. This interest was fueled by the variety and uniqueness of the tea bags, as well as their ubiquitous presence in bars, restaurants, and all public places. The sachets can be distinguished by various factors, including the manufacturer, the advertised location or venue, the size, shape and series it belongs to.

There are sachets depicting flags and maps, medieval armor, and various types of games. A complete set can be worth even several hundred euros and the packets of sugar both full and empty ones are collected.

The first series, in Italy, were produced in 1960 under the Eridania brand, featuring images of flowers, butterflies, and cars, generally in quantities of 8-10 different pieces. As for the empty packets, whose collectors are called "periglycophiles," it should be noted that this avoids the risk of them ending up as waste in the wrong place.
