Making DIY stools offers us the opportunity to test our skills and give our home a personal touch. It also, of course, allows us to save money and use recycled materials (avoiding unnecessary waste). Cork stoppers

Have you ever thought of making a stool out of corks ? To be fair, what you see above isn't entirely made of corks. They were used to cover a plastic jar. If you have a jar that used to hold paint (that's roughly the size to consider), you're already halfway there.

Macramè

Using some wood, perhaps from an old chair, you can create a shabby chic stool like the one pictured. You'll need to be familiar with the macramé technique.

Reel

Old spools —whether plastic or wood—can be the perfect base for stools suitable for any room in the house, from the children's bedroom to the kitchen. Paint the spool as you like and complement it with a matching cushion . You can even make it yourself.

Trunk

Comfortable and functional DIY stools can also be made with logs : whether they are round or square (but in this case you will need the help of a carpenter), sand them well to avoid leaving dangerous splinters on their surface: they will give a natural touch to your home furnishings.

Pneumatic

Old and useless tires can be turned into comfortable seats. Clean them thoroughly, paint them to your liking, and once dry, top them with cushions. It's that simple.

Botti

Even an old wooden barrel , with a little patience and a good deal of work, can be transformed into a beautiful seating area. To make the stools , take the slats, cut them to size, and assemble them carefully. Then, add the seat, which can be a wooden plank or the bottom or top of the barrel itself (cut in half).

Milk container

Remember those old milk containers your grandparents or uncles used to collect the milk after milking? If you have one abandoned in an attic, you could salvage it and turn it into a comfortable stool. Add a seat and you're all set.

Cement

Think making a concrete stool is an impossible task? Get some wooden sticks (even ordinary broomsticks will work ) and insert them into a plastic container filled with concrete . Let it harden, and you're done!

Wooden box

Whether it contained beer or fruit, it doesn't matter: an old wooden crate can become the basis for a comfortable and simple stool made with just a few materials. Simply clean it, sand it, and leave it natural if you like the vintage look . Just add a cushion and the stool is ready.

Finally, if you have a good amount of rope , you can braid it around a base of your choice, such as an old tire. To make a stool, you'll need at least three, stacked on top of each other.
