Zhero: the system for generating energy at home with salt batteries

A fully recyclable system with intelligent power flow management. And thanks to a specific function, it's also possible to have an energy reserve.

ZHERO SALT BATTERIES

Bringing energy to places where it's difficult to reach. With this idea, Giuliano Scaltriti founded the startup Une, an acronym for Universal Nature Energy , and developed Zhero . The project includes a system for collecting, storing, and managing electricity produced by photovoltaic systems. Its primary goal is to optimize self-consumption. Une was founded in 2012 in Correggio and today allows the use of recyclable salt batteries to be combined with solar panels.

ZERO-COST ENERGY FOR ALL HOMES

The project's name refers to the emissions produced by the system adopted . Une recently reached a distribution agreement with a company specializing in photovoltaics , which is strongly interested in storing and using the energy produced. Zhero is the ideal system for passive houses , buildings where well-being is ensured with a minimal renewable energy source. The storage system allows renewable energy to be transformed, stored, and distributed within any residential building, making energy management autonomous. The system is completely recyclable , in all its components, starting with its innovative salt battery . Compared to traditional lithium or lead batteries, Zhero batteries are non-flammable and use a natural substance like salt.

HOME ENERGY

This is thanks to the integrated all-in-one system equipped with exclusive software capable of managing the energy flow autonomously and without waste. Furthermore, being equipped with off-grid technology , Zhero operates independently from the public grid. This allows for an adequate energy supply even in geographical areas where it is not possible to produce energy from renewable sources . The system produced by Une has the advantage of operating at any time of the day:

  • At morning, in the presence of the peak of energy captured by the photovoltaic panels, Zhero feeds this energy directly into the domestic network and, at the same time, stores part of the flow in the salt battery. data management; intelligent flow management is operated by the internal software, which distributes energy following the most efficient distribution criteria with respect to each specific need
  • At night, that is, during the period in which solar energy is not being produced, the supply is guaranteed by the electricity "store" stored in the salt battery. If the energy level is insufficient, the system automatically connects to the public grid, drawing the energy needed to operate the home network.

Thanks to its software, Zhero is able to manage consumption intelligently and efficiently , that is, it decides the best time to release energy based on the ratio between the quantity requested and the quantity directly available or already stored in the battery. The program allows for complete management directly from a PC or mobile device. Therefore, even via smartphone, it is possible to monitor consumption trends in real time and access all the energy data needed to plan the operating times of appliances . Furthermore, thanks to the backup function , it is possible to always have a "reserve" of available energy, even in the event of a power outage. Zhero is already in production in a few dozen units. However, Giuliano Scaltriti hopes to increase production volume to nearly 10 units per year.
