Zero dogs in the shelter, they succeeded in Foggia. What if we tried it all over Italy?

A significant challenge to the violence of stray dogs. Abandoned dogs are cared for and then adopted. This way, public administrations avoid waste. The Puglia region alone has saved €27 million.

ZERO DOGS IN THE KENNEL

No dogs in the kennel. Finally it is no longer just the title of a campaign to avoid this daily and useless violence against animals, but a concrete result, obtained in the deep South, to be used as a format throughout Italy.

A group of volunteers, led by Francesca Toto, they were able to empty the Vieste dog pound, in the province of Foggia. How? Simply by managing to promote a network of people ready to adopt the dog abandoned, after it has been cared for and made safe.

ZERO DOGS IN THE VIESTE KENNEL

The Vieste project, in fact, foresees two phases for each dog that enters the structure. During the first phase the dog is cared for and cleaned, according to the normal criteria with which these animals should be raised. In the second stage, instead, the adoption process is organized.

TO KNOW MORE: Adopting an animal, even from a distance, is a gesture of love, civility, and responsibility.

ADVANTAGES OF THE ZERO DOG IN KENNEL PROJECT

The advantages of the Zero Dogs in Kennels project are many. Among these, the two most important concern a concrete fight against the horrible habit of abandoning, especially during the summer months, dogs and cats on the street. Thinking: they'll end up in a kennel anyway. Secondly, zero dogs in kennels means lower costs and less waste for public administrations.

The Puglia region, for example, spent every year on stray animals, and therefore on equipping and managing kennels like the one in Vieste, well 27 million euroMoney saved now. Money that could be multiplied throughout Italy if the work done by Francesca Toto's group were followed.
