WSense is an innovative underwater wireless communication technology developed by a team of Italian researchers. WSense, an acronym for Wireless Sensor Network for Submarine Networking and Sensing, was developed in 2017 by Chiara Petrioli, CEO, Ezio Baccarelli, and other researchers from the Department of Computer, Control, and Management Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome.

WSENSE POTALITY FOR MONITORING THE OCEANS
The big news about WSense is the use of a technology that uses a frequency band between 300 and 500 MHz called the sub-GHz band.
At these frequencies, electromagnetic waves propagate much more efficiently through water than high-frequency radio waves. This allows WSense to provide fast, low-latency data transmissions up to several kilometers away.
WSense overcomes the significant challenges of underwater wireless communication, such as high attenuation, multipath interference, and the Doppler effect, through a combination of antennas optimized for underwater signal transmission and reception; specially designed signal modulation techniques to maximize range and spectral efficiency; and advanced signal processing algorithms implemented at network nodes to improve error detection and correction.
WSENSE OCEAN CONTROL
In this way, WSense is able to achieve data transmission speeds of up to 1 Mbps and latencies of less than a second , offering performance similar to acoustic communication but with greater flexibility thanks to its wireless nature.
Wsense will enable the development of intelligent sensor networks that can revolutionize several underwater applications such as environmental monitoring , marine scientific research , and offshore oil and gas operations.
WSense has been described by the World Economic Forum as "one of the world's most innovative environmental companies." And never before has innovation served sustainability . Such in-depth, accurate, and timely ocean monitoring could enable large-scale interventions to address both the climate crisis and the removal of plastic , one of the main causes of degradation of our seas.
