WHO PRODUCES THE MOST WASTE IN THE WORLD?
Who produces the most garbage in the world? The United States leads the way : New York City alone generates 33 million tons of waste per year, with a population of 20 million. And the majority of the American metropolis's waste ends up in landfills or incinerators located outside New York State.
COUNTRIES THAT PRODUCE THE MOST WASTE
As for plastic , and in particular that which ends up in the sea, 60 percent comes from five countries: China , Indonesia , the Philippines , Thailand , and Vietnam . According to Nicholas Mallos of Ocean Conservancy , at the current rate of waste, in a few years, by 2025, there will be one ton of garbage in the ocean for every three tonnes of fish.
Finally, in the Mediterranean, the country number one on the blacklist of polluters is Turkey , which produces a quantity of waste at European levels, but manages to recycle only a small portion of it, a percentage worthy of an Asian country.
Among the plastics found in waste on Mediterranean beaches, in first place are plastic cutlery , glasses, trays and straws (17 percent), followed by cigarette filters (14 percent), bottle caps and lids (14 percent), bottles (12 percent), shopping bags (5 percent) and cotton buds (5 percent).

- Laser food labels: Sweden saves plastic and energy with a natural brand.
- Bioplastic: now it's extracted from coffee and parsley waste.
- Bottles made from red algae (photo), durable and non-polluting. A far cry from plastic.
