A comprehensive school and a scientific high school in Milan join forces to produce energy and supply it to the neighborhood.

The project carried out by the comprehensive institute Renovated Pizzigoni and from the scientific high school Buttons. Thus was born the association that will give life to the Ghisolfa Campus Energy Community.

The Renewed Pizzigoni Comprehensive Institute It includes two primary schools (Dante Alighieri and Rinnovata) and a secondary school (Puecher); Bottoni is a scientific high school. The two institutes, which both belong to the Green Schools Network, have decided to install solar panels on their roofs, so as to be self-sufficient. Not only that: the surplus energy will be donated by the Energy Community to vulnerable situations in the area.

RENEWABLE ENERGY COMMUNITIES

The schools together will be the driving force of a Renewable Energy Community (with the slogan "Schools have energy for everyone" and the name Ghisolfa Campus), which will be eligible for funding from national, regional, and municipal laws. "What is certain is that this project is a concrete, small but significant response to the energy crisis we are experiencing, especially after the war in Ukraine. And at the same time, it represents a way to bring students closer toenvironmental education and sustainability issues to help people in difficulty,” explains Anna Teresa Ferri, principal of the Rinnovata Pizzigoni Institute.

The Association has taken its first steps: thanks to a call for proposals promoted by the Cariplo Foundation, the Rinnovata Institute received funding, and now it can proceed with feasibility studies. The Municipality of Milan already has a project to install solar panels in Puecher: we are collaborating to participate in the Lombardy Region's call for proposals for funding for the construction of the photovoltaic system.
