WIND TRAIN HOLLAND
This is a world first, a real flagship in the field ofenvironmental sustainability. Since last February, in fact, in the Netherlands all the trains that are circulating are powered by blades, by the windThe benefits for passengers are enormous. First of all zero CO2 emissions along the entire railway network covering 2.800 kilometres of line with 1,2 million passengers per daySecondly, there is no reduction in the speed of trains, while following the reduction in energy supply costs there is the excellent surprise of a reduction in ticket prices. Moreover, an active blade is capable of providing, in one hour of operation, enough energy to power a train for 200 kilometers.

WIND ENERGY FOR TRAINS
The decision to implement these Groenetrein, literally green trains, is the product of a record that the Netherlands has decided to exploit to the fullest. The Northern European country, in fact, holds the world record for per capita energy production wind, and this also explains the boom in the rail transport sector. In reality, it is the entire national energy system that continues to bet at a frantic pace on electricity production from windIn the last year alone, in fact, 153 new turbines have been built. wind farms and the national stock is now at 2.250 plants wind turbines with the generation of 7 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, about 20 percent more than the previous year.
RAILWAY NETWORK POWERED BY WIND ENERGY
It should be noted that trains usually run on diesel and electric current: therefore they contribute significantly to pollution and global warming. Not surprisingly, the 20 percent of CO02 emissions in Holland they depended on the railway mobilityWith wind power the problem would be eliminated. Comments Michel Kerkhof, general director of Eneco, the Dutch company that deals with national energy supplies: «We are in a epochal turning pointCitizens must know that by travelling by train within the country, they are also contributing to improving thetechnology and to counteract the process of global warming."
WIND ENERGY IN THE NETHERLANDS
Eneco It is the company that leads the process, with Arriva, the holding company that manages the railway network and Aeolia, which holds a leading position in wind energy production. The network covered by its turbines is equivalent to the entire railway network of two large Italian regions, Lombardy and Veneto.
