The rain water It's never the same. It varies based on its origin, air temperature, and the amount of rain that falls. One thing is certain, however: rainwater, which comes from the condensation of water vapor, is not as pure as distilled water. It doesn't contain only hydrogen and oxygen, with a neutral degree of acidity. Instead, it can contain atmospheric dust, carbon dioxide, nitrates, and nitrites.

HOW TO TRANSFORM RAINWATER INTO DRINKING WATER
At this point, we might ask ourselves: is it possible to turn rainwater into drinkable water? A simple way to make water drinkable is to boil it for at least 10 minutes: this eliminates its bacteria. Rainwater can then be purified using chlorine or iodine. On the other hand, even with public water, filtering isn't enough to make it drinkable; disinfectants are always needed to safeguard this "blue gold." In both cases, these are complex processes that aren't easy to implement on a DIY basis on significant quantities of water. An interesting technological solution, however, has been adopted in Mexico City at the "Casa del Agua" bar, which serves only rainwater transformed into drinkable water.

So, to prevent the loss of such a precious and increasingly scarce resource, the owners of the venue developed a system capable of converting rainwater into drinkable water. This process takes time, about 60 hours: the water is collected on the venue's terrace and then, through pipes, conveyed to a 2.500-liter tank suspended from the ceiling, where it is filtered. The process then continues with distillation, which eliminates pollutants. The water's mineral properties, lost during distillation, are then restored using an activated carbon filter.
MAKING RAINWATER DRINKABLE
A safe and effective process that allows for savings in groundwater use and a system that could be used in the future to supply water to private homes, especially those of the poorest families.
Aside from being transformed into drinking water, rainwater can be recycled in various ways. Therefore, it shouldn't be wasted. For cleaning: floors, dishes, glass, cars. For gardening. For some household appliances. In this regard, remember that rainwater has a major advantage: it doesn't contain limescale and therefore won't damage electrical and electronic appliances.
