Together, hand in hand , even at the moment of death, lightened by the idea of ​​not being able to live without the other. Isaac and Teresa Vaktin , he 91, she 89, were together, married and in love, for 69 years.

ETERNAL LOVE

Admitted to a hospital in a Chicago suburb, they no longer had any hope of survival. So their grandchildren asked that they be allowed to stay close to each other in the hospital , as being in each other's company gave them peace of mind . The doctors agreed, and the two elderly people remained together until their final moments, holding hands. Overcome by Alzheimer's, Teresa was the first to pass away, according to the Daily Herald, a newspaper in Illinois, where the couple lived. Forty minutes later, Isaac Vatkin also passed away, as if there was no longer any point in remaining on this earth without his lifelong companion.

And to think that their love was born in the most romantic of ways: through letters. Both of Argentine origin, they had begun to love each other precisely through a long correspondence. In the writings they exchanged, they recounted their daily lives and aspirations for the future, while the present forced them thousands of miles apart . Until, a few years later, they reunited and their love was finally able to blossom in the United States, where they were able to create a large and very close family. Theirs, their grandchildren say, was a relationship like many others, with ups and downs, but one that managed to survive the decades, overcoming difficulties, above all thanks to their great ability to appreciate the little things . A simple, almost banal recipe, but one that each time confirms its great potential.
