SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE CONSTITUTION
We fully agree with the professor's proposal Enrico Giovannini, former Minister of Welfare and President of theItalian Alliance for Sustainable Development which has 200 members: to introduce in the Constitution the principle of the Sustainable Development.
It would be a concrete and very significant way to uescape from the vagueness and rhetoric of the objectives and give a solid and lasting impetus to policies aimed at safeguarding the environment, revive investments in this sector, reduce huge inequalities in the country. Reminding us that sustainability is already worth 23 trillion dollars in investments worldwide, and is therefore an essential driving force for a new economic growth.

INCLUDE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE ITALIAN CONSTITUTION
But including sustainable development in the Constitution also has other advantages. First: it would become a definitive and permanent goal, regardless of the natural succession of governments, which in Italy is a continuous and rapid accumulation of anomalies. Second, each government, and even before that, Parliament, would be committed to producing policies consistent with an article of the Constitution. Third, the Environment would cease to be considered a Cinderella ministry, a place where you can place someone you never quite know where to put when it comes to filling in all the pieces of the puzzle.
MINISTRY OF QUALITY OF LIFE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
The 5 Star Movement has already proposed a Ministry of Quality of Life and Sustainable Development, within the Presidency of the Council: it would be an important first step forward. I would just like to point out that in France the now ex Ministry of the Environment It has become the government's second-largest and most important ministry, absorbing both welfare and energy policies. It's clear that, with such strength, investments would be geared toward sustainability and no longer just announced at a few conferences.
