Sometimes there are stories that are hard to understand if you don't know where they come from, if you don't grasp their heart and context. Such is the case with the story of the birth of the Spazzuk brand , one of the many Italian stories of fashion, courage, and rebirth , conceived and conceived in a small, almost completely uninhabited village in Molise. But Molise is a land of resilience , a harsh and difficult land, yet ultimately full of resources. Like its people.
It is precisely in this mistreated region that Alessandra Peri , a mother and entrepreneur, born in Molise and having long wandered between Siena, Rome and Barcelona , decided to launch her project for a fashion brand "made in Molise" , starting, or rather, starting again, from Rocchetta al Volturno , where she returned to live and work, following her childhood dream and valorising the territory.
SPAZZUK ECO-SUSTAINABLE FASHION
At the dawn of her forties, in fact, Alessandra, already the mother of two children, together with her partner decides to give a chance to the dream she had had since she was a child, that of launching her own clothing collection , and to abandon her life on the road to return to live in Rocchetta, a small village of a thousand inhabitants perched in the mountains , from which she had left a few years ago.
In 2017 it was born Spazzuk, its eco-sustainable brand entirely based on the values of'craftsmanship and environmental sustainability.
The craftsmen who work for Spazzuk are all from Molise, both for the patterns and the actual production, remaining faithful to the region's centuries-old textile tradition of craftsmanship. These values are also clearly evident in the logo, which symbolizes a Japanese doll, a deliberate choice to indicate that, as in Japanese culture, the connection to the land of origin is fundamental. But also a strong desire for cross-fertilization.
Her biography, in fact, is the story of constant movement, beginning when this creative mother moved from Rocchetta al Volturno to Rome: after studying medieval history and earning a PhD in the Eternal City and Siena, she left Italy, which offered her no job opportunities other than precarious and underpaid work. Destination Spain, primarily Barcelona, until she returned to Italy in 2010, already pregnant with her first child.
Alessandra, therefore, having returned to Molise, rolls up her sleeves and begins to produce a line with an “urban” and sporty cut , ultra-customizable by users and therefore very far from the concept of fast fashion, based on the contamination with Asian culture, cinema, other forms of art and, above all, on a very strong interaction with those who buy a garment , which becomes a real community to which, assures Alessandra, she often and willingly turns to for inspiration and ideas.
ALESSANDRA PERI SPAZZUK
That family, tradition, and home are at the heart of Alessandra's creativity is also evident from a curious anecdote about the birth of the name Spazzuk, and the resulting logo: one day, her little girl asked her to draw a doll in her favorite colors— fuchsia, black, and white —and when her eldest son, then seven, saw it, he decided that its name should be Spazzuk. Thus was born this fashion brand, which has also decided to make environmental sustainability its flagship: the materials chosen are all absolutely eco-friendly , such as organic cotton , and cruelty-free : there is no room in Alessandra's production for animal skins or fabrics that are not respectful of the environment.
But Spazzuk is also and above all a story of rebirth, like when you see the light at the end of a long and very difficult tunnel: that of cancerThe diagnosis arrives, like an axe, at the dawn of Alessandra's forties, and she begins a fierce battle, clinging to life and that of her two children: she discovers her fragility, the sensation of feeling precarious and hanging by a thread, but at the same time she begins to discover her ability to fight, to resist. His strength and tenacity.
Which don't let her get down, and allow her to transform the experience of illness into a filter to see how much positive there is in every event we go through, even the horrible ones.
That little doll, therefore, is, for Alessandra, a message of life and hope, of the need to have a dream in order to face the disease, which is not always a certain death sentence.
This is the message behind Spazzuk: always believe in your dreams and your strength, just like Molise, which despite its critical issues, has unexplored but beautiful treasures.
