Solidarity hairdressers take to the streets of Palermo to shave and hair the homeless.

Three Palermo hairdressers have been offering their services to those most in need for some time now. At the station or on the city walls, they can perform nearly 40 haircuts an evening, but the sacrifice doesn't weigh them down because they're rewarded by the gratitude of the homeless.

SOLIDARITY HAIRDRESSERS PALERMO

A service as simple as it is essential, especially for those who live on the streets. Armed with a razor, a pair of scissors, a comb, and a brush to remove hair, Daniele Miranda, Adriano Capizzi and Pietro La Greca they have decided to make their resources available to those who need them most professionalism. So for some time now they have been going around Palermo and they cut hair on makeshift chairs, such as those at a station or the walls at the edge of a road. Why do they do it? the reason is simple: it makes them happy to feel useful. So their profession became a social service, so much so that they nicknamed themselves "solidarity hairdressers".

HAIRDRESSERS FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE

For those who live on the streets and don't even have water to wash, Having good hair can mean a lot, for this reason the service offered by Daniele Miranda, Adriano Capizzi and Pietro La Greca is particularly appreciated by homeless Palermo. The initiative was conceived by Miranda, who began cutting the hair of the homeless in 2015 to fulfill a promise she had made to her mother. "She has always been involved in social work," the barber stated in a recent interview with Claudia Brunetto on Republic "Before she died, I swore to her that I would also do my part for those in need, and so I did. I have my business near the stadium, but I always wait until it's time to cut the homeless' hair so I can feel truly useful. The energy you get from seeing them happy is incomparable to anything else." Now, however, he is no longer alone, and Adriano Capizzi and Pietro La Greca have joined him and have institutionalized Two appointments a month. The route starts from the Caritas center on Via Don Orione and then moves to the Notarbartolo station, where they manage to make up to 15 cuts per person every evening. All the night rounds continue until at least midnight, and the homeless people are now waiting for them punctually. The hope now is to attract other volunteers and to achieve this they opened the Facebook page "Solidarity hairdressers”, so that this “heartfelt” service can become even more effective.
