SOCIAL COMMITMENT OF FOOTBALL TEAMS
It may have happened to you too to participate in an event with a buffet and to wonder where the risotto, the pasta, the vegetables end up. Small pizzas and leftover sweets. Fortunately, our country is making significant progress in the fight against food waste. One year after the approval of the specific readers in fact, the balance is decidedly positive: food donations by companies operating in the various sectors of the entire economic chain they have increased and this is also thanks to the bureaucratic simplification of procedures.

ROME CARES
There is the sector of supermarkets which, as Banco Alimentare points out, in one year, from September 2016 to September 2017, increased by 20 percent il recovery of surplus food and there are an ever-increasing number of associations that, every day, work to eliminate food waste. How Rome Cares the non-profit organization linked to the broader context of social responsibility and sustainability of the AS Roma football team which, since 2014, promotes projects and campaigns to spread educational and positive values in sport.
ROME CARES FOOD RECOVERY
In particular, for years, over the course of various football seasons, Roma Cares and As Roma, in collaboration with Equoevento Onlus, recover the surplus food from the hospitality area of the Olympic Stadium to make them available to family homes and charitable organizations in the capital.
Over 16mila Meals saved from the hospitality area of the Stadio Olimpico during the last three Serie A football championships AS Roma, and then distributed to soup kitchens and various organizations that offer assistance to those in difficulty, including the Community of Sant'Egidio, the Regina Mundi, and the Santa Lucia soup kitchen. This is also thanks to “Food Day”, The food collection which, every year, during the month of November, involves AS Roma fans.

And not only that: there are many initiatives carried out by Roma Cares with social solidarity purposes such as “Toys Day” which takes place every year during the month of December at the Olympic Stadium. All fans can donate. toys new ones at the specific collection points established by Roma Cares and then, subsequently, the footballers personally deliver them to the children hospitalised in the hospitals Romans.
Roma Cares also supports small teams, associations, parishes and Italian and foreign associations by making available to them the unused or faulty sports equipment.

AT ROMA CARES SUPPORT SCHOOL
In collaboration with Rome Capital instead the project “At the school of cheering” aimed at primary and secondary school students, which sees AS Roma and Roma Cares committed to raising awareness among young people about sport as a bearer of values such as mutual respect and tolerance and on cheering as a moment of healthy and fun social gathering. The initiative has already involved more than 80 classes it's about 6 thousand students.

FOOTBALL TOGETHER ROME CARES
And again, the magic of football to eliminate distances and go beyond difficulties: thanks to the project “Football together” Promoted by Roma Cares together with the staff of ASD Accademia di Calcio Integrato, many children and youths between the ages of 6 and 12, with or without disabilities, participate in cultural, artistic, and sports activities that foster interaction, teamwork, and the development of social skills. Activities are led by a team of expert instructors, sports psychologists, speech therapists, and educators.
PLAYING IS AN ART ROMA CARES
Finally, “Playing is an art”, the initiative that involves children hosted in family homes and charitable organizations and that offers them a moment of leisure by taking them to discovery of the Capital, of its grandiose history, of its places of art and culture.
Important projects that testify to the importance of sport as a tool for sensitization on important and fundamental issues for our future and education e social integration.
