Sometimes we are so surprised by some pro-environmentalist initiatives that it is not even easy to comment on them. In a private nursery school in Giugliano in Campania, in the province of Naples, (Naples), for Easter they were give live chicks to children, as a gift to take home.
Purchased regularly, and then given as gifts to students, according to the school they were meant to introduce children to animals and the responsibilities of a living being, especially a very small one.
A naive and stupid idea that simply backfired, as the children simply treated the chicks like any other object, just another toy. This prompted protests from families and environmental groups, as well as interventions from the local health authority and even the Campania Region. Finally, the school had to apologize in a post and abandon its idea. The result: the donated chicks were withdrawn and transferred to a facility where they can be raised in suitable conditions.
