SAVE THE DOGS AND OTHER ANIMALS
Save The Dogs and other Animals It is an international association that has so far managed to find homes for over 8 thousand strays and has saved thousands of dogs and cats in Europe and Italy. Its areas of intervention include: sterilizations and treatments, stray animal census, adoptions, education, and responsible coexistence with pets. Save The Dogs and other Animals was born in 2002 thanks to the initiative of Sara Turetta (who currently chairs the association), a woman capable of resigning from her position as manager of Saatchi & Saatchi to make a winning bet in the field of animal protection and care. The association's first office was Romania, where Sara worked for four years, also managing to build a modern veterinary clinic and sterilize 41.200 dogs and cats free of charge.
After Romania, offices were opened in other European countries, including Italy with offices in Milan (and with a Facebook page with over 200 followers), and a campaign against stray animals and overcrowded kennels and for the sterilization of abandoned animals, entitled Not One Too Many, concentrated in Southern Italy and particularly in Campania and Calabria. The latest project is called Connected Lives To help people and animals in the local communities where the association operates: Save the Dogs workers distribute food and veterinary care to animals, and encourage families to care for them, covering expenses they cannot afford. In Constanta, Romania, Sara Turetta also managed to reach an agreement with the management of the prison in Poarta Alba to allow prisoners to care for their dogs and cats, thus preparing them for reintegration into social life. And Save the Dog's aid has also reached Ukraine, where over 9 dogs and cats remaining in the war-torn country are receiving food, beds, and blankets from the association chaired by Sara Turetta.
