What can you do with shower caps?

Shower caps, which we often use both at home and in hotels when we travel, are quite bulky waste because they contain plastic and silicone. However, once cleaned and sanitized, they can be reused in a variety of ways: to cover food and dough, to store shoes, or even to protect electronic devices, such as tablets.

What are shower caps for?

• Protect hair from water and steam, especially if we wash them often.

A shower cap can be used to cover the containers containing the rising dough . The cap is perfect because it can be reused multiple times, unlike cling film, which must be discarded immediately after use.

A shower cap can be used to store shoes when packing, so the soles don't stain your laundry. It can also be used to protect shoes that need to be stored in a shoe rack, protecting them from dust and the inside of your furniture. Place the cap upside down on a flat surface, then insert the shoes , one at a time, trying to cover the soles as much as possible.

This will protect the screen and prevent it from getting dirty or wet.

Toiletry bag

If you're traveling and don't want to risk wetting your clothes in your suitcase, put your shampoo and shower gel in your shower cap: if they leak, or are still wet, they won't end up on the contents of your suitcase.

After using a paintbrush, you can wrap it in a cap to keep it soft until the next use without drying it out. This prevents it from hardening and saves precious time washing and drying.

A shower cap can become a handy mini bag for recycling . Perfect for small waste in the bathroom, office, or car, it takes up little space and closes easily.

Crafts for children

With a plastic cap you can create a fun jellyfish that the little ones will love.

• Glue some cardboard eyes onto the cap – this is optional – then cut out strips of tulle, mesh, and crepe paper.
• Take a bowl, tie a rubber band around it and insert all the strips underneath, alternating them, until the circumference is covered: they will become the jellyfish's tentacles.
• Finally, place the cap on top, preferably a colored one, and your jellyfish will be ready!

Carnival Wig

With a shower cap you can make a fun Carnival wig.

• Wrap a cabbage in cling film and place it on a jar: it will serve as a base.
• Place the cap on top, cover it with double-sided tape, and attach strips of newspaper you've cut out and ironed on top.
• Cover the entire cap, leaving the front free, and cut the "hair" to your desired length. Your wig is ready for the party!
