RICEHOUSE
Tiziana Monterisi, architect specialized in bio-ecological building projects, and Alessio Colombo, the founders of Ricehouse, started from potential of rice cultivation wasteEnormous. Each hectare produces, on average, 7 tons of rice and 10 tons of waste. First comes straw, which farmers usually burn with all the collateral damage, then comes husk (the skin of the grain) and chaff.
Italy is the leading rice producer in Europe, but we are also the first producers of rice waste that we waste, also favoring the production of CO2.

HOW TO USE RICE IN ARCHITECTURE
Leftover rice to make a house have several advantages, regardless of the useful mechanism The circular economy which connects sustainable agriculture and modern architecture. First of all, they give the house a pleasant appearance, and therefore they have a very significant aesthetic value. Then they are completely natural materials, which have no negative effects on the environment, and if anything, once recycled, they reduce harmful emissions, typical of rice production waste. Thirdly, rice houses have very high thermal qualities and reduce energy consumption to the point of becoming passive houses. These materials, which are not particularly expensive, provide excellent protection from the cold in winter while also insulating in summer, creating a sort of natural cooling. Finally, rice houses are built using traditional methods, without any special methods or additional effort.
LOW CONSUMPTION HOUSES
The innovative thrust of the Ricehouse project, whose materials are currently used in around a hundred construction sites, has attracted various investment funds, but above all, the Riso Gallo company, which has become a shareholder of the company. With the idea that its rice waste, rather than being a disposal cost, could be transformed into a resource for building the Ricehouse rice houses.
