In Poland, the country is self-sufficient in energy, thanks to renewable sources

The town has two wind farms, a biomass boiler that powers a central heating network capable of providing heat to 85 percent of the town's buildings, and a biogas plant that runs on locally grown corn and straw that would otherwise remain unused.

The number of energy self-sufficient towns in Europe is increasing thanks to renewable energy

RENEWABLE ENERGY POLAND

We told you about Feldheim in Germany, a small town a few kilometers from Berlin, entirely powered by renewable sources and completely autonomous from the national electricity grid and Wildpoldsried, also in Germany, a small town that produces 500 percent of its own electricity and, by 2020, plans to obtain all of its energy from renewable sources only.

ENERGY SELF-SUFFICIENCY IN KISIELICE, POLAND

Today we move to Poland and precisely to Kisielice, a small town of about 2300 inhabitants that has achieved energy self-sufficiency in a country that gets about 90 percent of its energy from coal and where the levels of emissions CO2 they are very high.

WIND FARMS AND BIOMASS BOILER

In the town there are two wind farms featuring 48 turbines and with a power of approximately 82 MW and a biomass boiler with a power of 6 MW that supplies a network of warm-up centralized system capable of providing heat to 85 percent of the city's buildings: in summer, the excess heat is reused to heat water.

BIOGAS PLANT

A system designed and developed thanks to the contribution of funding and tax revenue and which, last year, also saw the construction of a biogas plant fed with locally grown corn and straw that would otherwise remain unused.

But that's not all: a third wind farm is currently under construction and the next goal is to equip each building with three panels with a power of 10 kW each.

An important project that we hope can be an example for the country and soon lead it towards the path of renewables.
