It was when 2018 Anna MasielloWhile walking through the streets of Lisbon, he noticed the enormous amount of broken umbrellas being thrown away. At the time, he was studying for a Master's degree in environmental sustainability. Hence the idea: give new life to those old umbrellas, transforming them into something beautiful.
So, even without having any sewing experience, thanks to an online tutorial, she starts using a sewing machine and creates an original DIY raincoat (you can find it here). here). This is how it was born R-Coat, a Trieste-based brand that recovers broken umbrellas and transforms them into clothing, accessories and Jewelry.
While the fabric is used to create jackets, hats and bags, the metal parts become jewels with which to personalize your look.

Each piece is handmade in a small atelier in Portugal, where skilled artisans source the materials and transform them with care and attention to detail. Each piece is unique.
Broken umbrellas are recovered by R-Coat through a series of collection points where anyone can drop off their old umbrella. To date, only 100 umbrellas have been recovered. more than 2500 umbrellas.
