PUB&SHOP PRISON ECONOMY

The Vale la Pena Pub & Shop stocks products from many Italian prisons , all united by the fight against recidivism. Prison economics projects, in fact, aim to prevent people serving a sentence from reoffending once they are released. Data shows that the recidivism rate among those not eligible for alternative measures to prison is much higher than among those placed in productive and qualifying projects . This demonstrates that work and training initiatives behind bars, in addition to making the experience of detention less oppressive and more humane, contribute concretely to the mission of re-education and reintegration into society that penitentiaries should have.

PRISON MADE PRODUCTS

The Vale la Pena Pub & Shop has been decorated with a "theme." Stepping inside feels like entering an old-fashioned prison, but one that still harbors good intentions and wholesome values. The bar's culinary offerings range from "Vale la Pena" beers, brewed by inmates admitted to external labor from Rome's Rebibbia prison, to Cibo Agricolo Libero cheeses and Caffè Galeotto.
