Since 1945, the year of the end of the Second World War, the world has never seen such a high number of armed conflictsToday there are 59, directly involving 92 countries. A scenario that recalls Pope Francis's expression of a "piecemeal third world war."
A context that raises a crucial question: what is the connection between war and sustainability? A profound connection. Goal 16 of the UN 2030 Agenda – “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions” – It clearly indicates the need to significantly reduce all forms of violence and associated mortality rates. Yet, reality is moving in the opposite direction: conflicts are increasing (with a 12% increase since 2020 according to the Global Peace Index 2025), millions of lives are being jeopardized, and international institutions are struggling to promote effective multilateral mediation processes.
Without peace, sustainable development remains a distant goal.
It is in this scenario that the The 17th edition of the Non Sprecare Award, which focuses on the theme of peace as an essential condition for quality of life, environmental protection, and the future of the planet. Promoted by the site www.nonsprecare.it, founded and directed by Antonio Galdo, the Award renews its collaboration with this edition too Luiss Guido Carli University, consolidating a common path aimed at spreading a concrete and participatory culture of sustainability.
