The only pencil in the world made in recycled graphite, without producing waste and using industrial waste as raw material: it is calledPerpetua and it is a completely Italian project, conceived by Susanna Martucci, owner of the small Vicenza-based company “Alisea”, which wanted to valorise the production waste by transforming it into gadgets for companies. The composition of Perpetua is very particular because it is made in zantech, an innovative material made up of 80 percent graphite derived from waste from the aerospace and railway industries, and an aggregate.
Why is Perpetua unique in the world? Besides allowing the recovery of tons of graphite powder, without producing any waste:
- It is made without addition of protective paints or hill toxic and without cutting down trees, unlike traditional pencils;
- It doesn't get your hands dirty and if it falls it doesn't break;
- It tempers normally but it writes even if it runs out of tip or if it is cut in two;
- The colored rubber it was born together with the pencil;
- Whoever uses it consumes and recycles, writing, 15 grams of graphite, which would otherwise end up in landfills.
- It lasts a long time: writes for a total of 1.120 kilometers.
In addition to being the symbol of the circular economy, for lovers of writing and drawing, Perpetua It also provides work to the disabled members of the cooperative.The Brotherhood”. In fact, they are the ones who take care of the packaging, shipping and e-commerce of the eco-friendly pencil.
