"We must care for the world as if it were a gift": the song 'Perla Marcia' is a message of hope and an incentive to act. VIDEO

A song, born from the "Paths of Peace" project, that's both entertaining and thought-provoking. It focuses on themes such as sustainability, respect for the environment, and the desire to mobilize for a better future.

Raise public awareness and carry on the environmental struggle: 'Marcia Pearl' is a special song that has precisely these purposes. Written by passionate environmentalists, the PIUNZ, has found diffusion on multiple music platforms, including YouTube and Spotify.

PEARL MARCH SONG

'Perla Marcia' is part of the larger project “Peace Paths”: a journey in bicycle which starts from Reggio Emilia and arrives in Rome, carried out by two parents in the company of six children, the Tognetto family of Castelnovo Sotto (RE). The objectives are to clean the roads and raise public awareness on crucial issues such as the environment, solidarity, and hospitality. At each stop, the group asked for hospitality from farms, parishes, and other families.

'Marcia Pearl' has a double meaning: our Earth, a 'Marcia Pearl' that must be preserved, and for the march, in favor of mobilizing to leave future generations a better world to live in.

PEACE PATHS PROJECT

 “A turtle chewing a plastic bag on a polyethylene island larger than Japan”: these are the opening words of 'Marcia Pearl'. Words that highlight one of the major environmental issues of our time, such as pollution linked to plastic bagsEvery year, between 4,8 and 12,7 tons of this material end up in the oceans, practically one garbage truck every minute, and, continuing with this trend, it is estimated that by 2050 the amount of plastic materials will exceed the weight of fish.

The currents have caused the accumulation of this waste in certain areas of the world, among these the “Great Pacific Garbage Patch”: 1,6 million square kilometers in size, it covers an area twice the size of Texas and three times the size of France.

PLASTIC POLLUTION

If waste abandoned in the environment is one of the factors that directly contributes to plastic pollution, the most critical aspect is that 90% of the plastic that pollutes seas and oceans comes from just 10 rivers in the worldEight of these are in Asia: the Yangtze River, the Indus, the Yellow River, the Hai He, the Ganges, the Pearl River, the Amur, and the Mekong; two are in Africa: the Nile and the Niger. All this man-made waste has serious effects, especially on marine fauna: fish and seabirds easily mistake the small fragments for food and in some cases die from suffocation. Other significant risks posed by plastic pollution in the oceans concern coral reefs, whose balance is already particularly delicate.

AIR POLLUTION

To this problem, the song adds the great question ofair pollutionTo deal with these situations, we need to act, move to change things, "Take care of the world," so as to leave future generations "a land without poisons" and "rivers filled with pure water." Every action is necessary to preserve the beauty of this land, a true gift we have been given: "We must care for the world, as if it were a gift, and give thanks every day for this dream home." And not only that, every action serves to counteract potentially drastic future consequences.
