PCUP: the silicone cup to avoid disposable plastic and skip the checkout lines

The goal is to reduce the use of traditional outdoor cups through the use of a technologically advanced product (the cup is connected to a chip) that can be reused. The idea came from two Italians, Lorenzo Pisoni and Stefano Fraioli, who are bringing their cup to nightclubs, stadiums, and tourist facilities.

A new one is coming to the market silicone cup, indestructible, ecological and intelligent to say no to waste. It is about PCUP, an idea by Lorenzo Pisoni and Stefano Fraioli, who decided to revolutionize the world of drinks with a innovative glass, alternative to the disposable formula.

The glass can be used for multiple situations: at festivals, nightclubs, stadiums, ships, tourist facilities, but also for private events. The mechanism behind it is very simple: once you arrive at the event, you take your glass, after depositing a deposit, download the PCUP app and scan the NFC chip, so that associate your profile with the glass. Even more interesting is the dedicated cloud platform, which connects managers and customers: managers can access real-time analytics on consumption, manage their own content, and communicate with their customers through notifications, promotions, and dedicated initiatives.

The PCUP project First of all, it allows you to do good for the environment: during the evenings it is possible to know in real time the contribution to nature both in terms of saving plastic and in terms of CO2and liters of garbage avoided. The app also features a personal eco-meter, through which you can find out how much each individual has saved. In addition to this, the initiative has another side of saving: it allows you to avoid all costs related to the procurement and disposal of disposable cupsThe silicone the glasses are made of, derived from sand rather than petroleum, is non-biodegradable and can withstand thousands and thousands of washes, temperatures from -50 to +230°C, detergents, and all types of stress.

AVOID THE CONSUMPTION OF PLASTIC CUPS

The idea was born from the two co-founders' desire to connect those who share an experience: "We thought that the most efficient and least invasive way to do this was to give people access to a cloud through interaction with a commonly used object. We realized that wherever a few people gather to do something nice, there's a glass involved” they write on the site.

The creators also addressed the issue of disposing of the cups: if they are no longer suitable, perhaps because the printed logo is old and unusable due to sponsorship or restyling issues, PCUP has a partnership with the non-profit organization CETRI-TIRES, the European office of Professor Jeremy Rifkin, to donate the cups to a public primary school with which the non-profit organization has active educational projects on the circular economy. Project, therefore, and, which also touches on the issue of education in schools.

Finally, the Made in Italy guarantee is important, as it allows not only local production but also the protection and respect of labor and environmental rights.
