João Paulo Araujo Gomes has long since become one of the most famous priests in the world, Judging by the attention he receives on social media, and beyond. In his parish in Brazil (in the diocese of Gravatá and later in Caruaru, in the Pernambuco region), he has always been dedicated to fighting, with the help of the faithful, the sad phenomenon of stray dogs. And he has done so in a concrete and effective way: opening the doors of his church to dogs, even bringing them to the altar during Mass, to encourage the faithful to make the most beautiful gesture for those who love a pet., adoption.
The priest has also organized himself to respond to the reports of animals in distress that continue to arrive, and to collaborate with volunteers to rescue abused or injured dogs, taking them to the vet and caring for them inside his church. He has also adopted five dogs destined to die of hunger and thirst.
On his social media, the parish priest has millions of followers and receives great encouragement, not only from people who love dogs, but also from other priests who want to follow the example of the Brazilian parish priest.
