Milan's Tree Library features 90 plants and a playground amidst skyscrapers (photos)

Over 45 bulbs and 21 types of trees. There will also be an area for concerts and shows. Thus, Claudio Abbado's dream is at least partially realized: filling Milan with trees.

LIBRARY OF TREES PARK MILAN

A large green park, the third in the city of Milan, with 90 thousand plants and 21 types of trees. A unique space in a metropolis that has frequent problems of smog and pollution, where families can bring their children to play outdoors and dogs to go for a walk.

October 27th – barring unforeseen circumstances – is the date set for the official inauguration of the Tree Library, in the area of New door In Milan, the project was created by Dutch landscape designers Petra Blaisse and Piet Oudolf, in collaboration with the Inside-Outside studio. The entire area covers 9,5 hectares of land, thus avoiding any form of concrete development: it will be a true circular urban forest, with trees and 45 flower bulbs.

TREE LIBRARY PROJECT

In the Library of Trees, in the centre of an entire neighbourhood which has seen the number of trees multiply in recent years skyscrapers, there will also be shared spaces. A playground for children, an area intended for concerts and shows, center fitness. And an area reserved for owners of petsThe project, which was supposed to be delivered last summer, is scheduled for autumn 2018. And let's just hope there are no further delays: maybe this way a part of the dream of Claudio Abbado, who wanted trees everywhere in Milan, will be realized.
