ORANGE SYRUP RECIPE

Homemade Orange Syrup Recipe
Here the ancient recipe for homemade orange syrup, with the advantage of limited sugar use.
Ingredients
- 12 oranges
- 1 kg of sugar
- 1/4 liter of water
Preparation
- Leave to soak in water, for at least two hours, the peel of six oranges. Then add the juice of the other six, which you squeezed and strained through a sieve.
- Put Bring the water and sugar to a boil in a saucepan and simmer for ten minutes, until a thick syrup forms. Once cooled, add the orange juice and zest, after draining them thoroughly.
- Put it back on the heat and boil for another quarter of an hour, then strain the syrup to remove the peels. Stir, preferably with a wooden spoon, until it reaches a consistency similar to that of honey.
- Cool down As quickly as possible, bottle, taking care to seal well, and store in a cool, dry place.
