How to make orange jelly
Perfect as a dessert after a meal and excellent with cheeses, orange jelly is a traditional Sicilian recipe. A light and delicious dessert, made with fresh oranges—so avoid bottled fruit juices.
A very versatile recipe that can be customized to your tastes, with orange zest or grapefruit juice. Let's take a step-by-step look at the recipe without gelatine but with agar agar.
Ingredients
- Half a liter of juice orange
- 50 g of raw cane sugar
- 2 lemons
- 2 teaspoons of powdered agar agar
- 1 orange for decoration
- Sunflower seed oil for greasing the molds
Preparation
- Squeeze the oranges and filter the juice to remove impurities. Dissolve the agar agar with the juice of the lemons squeezed.
- Place the ingredients in a saucepan, bring to the boil and continue cooking for a couple of minutes.
- Pour a few drops of oil to grease the pudding mold (alternatively, use 6 single-serving molds or ice cube trays) and then pour in the resulting liquid.
- Let it cool to room temperature and then store in the freezer for a couple of hours.
- When serving, turn the jelly upside down onto a small plate and decorate with slices of orange cut into thin slices or orange and lemon zest.
