NEW THERAPY FOR LIVER CANCER

But a new therapy has arrived in the second phase of testing, coming from Italy, and specifically from one of our best cancer institutes, the Pascale Institute in Naples. It's called Hepavac-201, includes 16 molecules that act on a broad spectrum and prevent tumor cells from escaping the action of the immune systemThe therapy could be effective in preventing relapses, improving patients' quality of life, and increasing survival. Hepavac-201 could be the world's first vaccine against liver cancerThe project, which has entered its decisive phase after ten years of studies and initial trials, is being carried out by a team led by Luigi Bonaguro, director of the Laboratory of Innovative Immunological Models at Pascale, Francesco Izzo, director of the Hepatobiliary Surgery Unit, and Paolo Ascierto, oncologist and coordinator of the Experimental Unit. If the results are as expected, Hepavac-201 could become a vaccine for large-scale production against liver cancer.
