For now, it's just an announcement. But if it were to become reality, it would transform New York, one of the world's most iconic metropolises, into a green city. Mayor Eric Adams, meanwhile facing a serious judicial investigation into fraud and corruption, has put forward an initial $350 million to transform not just one street, Fifth Avenue, but an entire area, from Central Park to Bryant Park, in the heart of Manhattan. An average of around 23 people pass through here every day, condemned to suffer the chaos of the area, now dominated by the string of luxury brand stores. In the project presented by the mayor, pedestrians will finally have more space, an entire central lane will be reserved for buses, and 200 trees will be planted along Fifth Avenue alone. These projects will transform the face of Manhattan, and in part, New York.
