MUSKIN VEGETABLE LEATHER
Musk it is the trademark of a project by the Florentine company Zero Grado Espace, which, starting from a particular species of mushroom and from his 17 years of experience in the technical fabrics sector and cutting-edge engineering, he has created a breathable skin, water-repellent and non-toxic. ECO-FRIENDLY LEATHER
Among the main characteristics that distinguish it from other types of eco-leather, Muskin stands out for its choice of raw materials. It does not use anything other than the Phellinus ellipsoideus, a giant subtropical mushroom, inedible for humans, which feeds on the trunk of trees. The process of tanning to which it is subjected does not differ much from the traditional ones, with the difference that, during the process, no chemicals are usedSpecific, completely natural treatments have been designed to ensure the leather retains essential aesthetic characteristics, such as the use of eco-waxes. The result is a material equally suited to textile use, without this being harmful to the environment.
Thanks to its composition, which is completely free of toxic and chemical additives, Muskin undoubtedly earns a place among the best materials for all applications that come into direct contact with the skin. As we know, however, the eye also wants its part, especially in the clothing sector. Muskin has thought of this: it is soft to the touch e, at sight, it looks like chamois.
ECO-SUSTAINABLE FASHION
The new mushroom leather does not yet have the production capacity to quickly replace the traditional leather market. The process is long, but companies like Grado Zero Espace can undoubtedly give a further boost to the process. ecological and sustainable transition, protecting, with their work, both people and biodiversity.
