FoodBus: a mobile restaurant from two young Sicilian chefs. Serving local cuisine.

Luca and Giorgio, both in their thirties, tour Italy on a London-style bus. On the first floor, there are tables for a menu featuring dishes from the region where the bus stops.

He travels around Italy, defying the pandemic and any difficulty linked to the coronavirus, in conditions of maximum safety: thevery Italian FoodBus of two Sicilian boys, Luca Arcarese e Giorgio Bellanca, both thirty years old, is a little jewel of the mobile kitchen “made in Italy”.

Il FoodBus Luca and Giorgio's house has very specific characteristics: it is bright red, two-story, like the famous public transport that roam the streets from LondonThe bus is eleven meters long and has a kitchen on the first floor, and four tables with sixteen seats on the second floor, which can accommodate up to twenty-five. Access is only possible with the super Green Pass, and there is the possibility of order takeout food, with home delivery.

THE CUISINE OF THE ITALIAN FOODBUS

The kitchen of the FoodBus made in Italy could not fail to be rigorously mediterranean. There are all the most typical dishes of Sicilian cuisine, with various international influences: many aromas of pistachios, almonds, spices, basil, oregano, and rosemary. And a long dessert menu. But the list of dishes is not fixed: since it is a traveling restaurant, which travels throughout Italy, the menu varies based on the region where the FoodBus stops. Among other things, the two owners have also foreseen the possibility of Organize events private or corporate.

LUCA ARCARESE AND GIORGIO BELLANCA

Luca and Giorgio, cooks and drivers, they left from Sicily. Both were born in San Cataldo, in the province of Caltanissetta, friends since childhood, attended the hotel management school. Then the period of emigration, with experiences in the sector foodLuca went to Stockholm, where he worked with Eataly, first as a cook and then as a sales assistant. Giorgio, on the other hand, moved to Geneva, where he worked as a chef in a Michelin-starred restaurant for eight years. And at the end of these journeys, the two friends met again to begin the adventure of FoodBus. They were very brave, considering the initial investment, 160 thousand euros for the bus and 50 thousand euros to equip it, and the help received from families and only partially from a bank loan. But now, after the darkness of the lockdown, the results are coming and the FoodBus Luca and Giorgio's tour around Italy brings great satisfaction to the two young mobile catering entrepreneurs.
