How to make bread and milk cake
La bread and milk cake It's a recipe that comes from peasant tradition, queen of the cuisine of recycling and leftovers: ideal for not wasting stale bread and expiring milk.
You can customize this recipe however you like, adding dried fruit or cocoa, chocolate chips, or a delicious homemade jam filling.
Ingredients
- 350 gr stale bread
- 1 liter of milk
- 100 g of raisins
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 eggs
- 30 ml of sunflower seed oil
- 30 grams of flour
- 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
- 30 g of dried fruit
Preparation
- Cut the bread into cubes, heat the milk in a saucepan and then pour in the bread cubes.
- Soak the raisins in a glass full of water.
- Beat the eggs with the sugar until the mixture becomes fluffy and light, then add the flour, cinnamon, and seed oil. Mix well.
- When the bread has softened and the milk will be cold, add them to the mixture and continue mixing with the help of an electric whisk or food processor.
- Line a baking tray Line a baking tray with baking paper and pour in the mixture.
- Decorate with the nuts and sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about an hour.
- Before removing the cake from the oven Test with a toothpick: if it comes out clean, the cake is ready. If it's dirty with batter, continue baking for a few more minutes.
