Marco: Bachelor's degree and master's degree to become a janitor

The waste of dedicated young people. Marco earned two degrees, both with honors. But in the end, he had to settle for a job as a school assistant.

Marco Morosini

He has a degree in Communication Sciences with 110 cum laude. He also has a master's degree in Marketing, also with 110 cum laude. And after many years of studies, and with these excellent results, the only job he has Marco Morosini, 25 years old, he managed to find that of janitor.

MARCO, WITH A DEGREE AND A MASTER'S DEGREE, IS A JANITOR

Marco's fate is shared by many young people of his generation. Alongside the starvation wages and the scandalously underpaid work, there's another form of waste. The low utilization compared to the course of studies undertaken and the investments made to obtain a degree and, as in this case, also a master's degree. After all, being a janitor is a job like any other and in Italy We have about 130 of them, but it's absurd that a young man with Marco's educational background should do it.

GRADUATE SCHOOL COLLABORATOR

Like many school officials, starting with the principal, the janitor has also changed his name. He's become a school assistant. But his duties remain the same. Every morning, Marco leaves the house where he lives with his parents in Sambucheto, in the province of Macerata, and goes to work at the Aldo Moro Early Childhood Institute in Recanati. The cleanliness, hygiene and safety of the schoolMarco's job is to supervise the students during recess, assist the disabled, and load and unload teaching materials. 1.300 euros gross per monthDespite the disappointment, the high expectations, and the resume he's sent to hundreds of companies in vain, Marco isn't complaining about his job. And he doesn't consider it a mere fix. "It's a menial job, but it's important. Plus, it's better than being unemployed or underpaid with the usual internship. At least here I have a regular salary..." he comments, without sarcasm.
