The machine that recycles clothes in just a few hours

From an old pair of jeans to a new t-shirt in a matter of hours and for just a few euros: this is the innovative system for immediate recycling of used clothing installed in Stockholm

A very technologically sophisticated machine, which allows the recycling of any garment, allowing that from an old garment, destined to inflate the waste of the fashion unsustainable,  it is possible to obtain, in a space of five hours, a completely new garment, made by recycling the yarn from what is discarded.
The H&M group, a giant in the fashion sector fast fashion ((one of the main culprits of clothing waste) has installed the Looop machine in its store on Drottninggatan, the most famous pedestrian street in the city of Stockholm.
There are eight steps that take an old, holed, or faded T-shirt to a brand new one. The first step is washing and shredding the used garment, reducing it to fibers that are rewoven with other fibers, making the new garment more durable. Then begins the process of creating a new piece of clothing, without using water or chemicals. The entire process takes about five hours, and to use Looops, customers pay a sort of ticket of 150 Swedish kronor, approximately 14 euros, with a discount for those who are members of the loyalty program.

Designed in collaboration with the textile research institute HKRITA and the spinning company Novetex Textiles, the Looop machine is currently only available in one H&M store, but in theory it could also be installed in other stores of the group or of brands in the same sector. fast fashion that they should request it.
